White River Junction
Heart of the Upper Valley

Generations of train travelers heard conductors shout out the melodious words "White River Junction" during their travels. The downtown still reflects it's rich railroad heritage.

Amtrak is conveniently located at the center of the village (just like the old days), making travel to and from NYC and other popular destinations very easy and you can sit back, enjoy the views, or read a book.

Visitors to downtown will find various pleasures such as historic sites on the National Historic Register, enjoy a picnic in the new village park located on the Rio Blanco, dine at the Upper Valley’s finest cafes and restaurants, and shopping unique boutiques for products.

One of five villages within the Town of Hartford, White River Junction is also at the heart of the beautiful and prosperous "Upper Valley." This region is home to several renowned educational and medical facilities including Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Dartmouth College and Medical School, US Veterans Administration Hospital, Lebanon College, Community College of Vermont (CCV) and The Center for Cartoon Studies (CCS).

Northern Stage Theatre, with "One of the most focused, innovative directors in New England." -Rutland Herald is located in our downtown (at the Briggs Opera House on Main Street).  They sell 30,000 seats a season!  For more information and to buy tickets, visit: http://www.northernstage.org/

White River Junction offers activities and events throughout year: Glory Days of the Railroad Festival (September), Halloween Parade and Dance (October), ongoing bands and performances at the curious Main Street Museum (the music scene for the Upper Valley), art openings and more.

In summertime be sure to paddle or float the Rio Blanco or Connecticut rivers.  Canoe and Kayak rentals are available at the Main Street Museum building by Northstar Canoe and Kayak right in the heart of the village.  It’s a great way to spend a hot summer day.

White River Junction offers visitors recreation and entertainment, shopping and dining, a village full of arts and culture and vitality.
